The Synaptic Samurai

Synaptic Samurai

Synaptic Samurai This was inspired by a dream I had after reading Rim by Alexander Besher................................................. Set in the near future where virtual reality has dominated the economy and popular culture (much like today’s internet), commercial space travel is commonplace, and orbiting space hotels surpass the complexity of even the International Space Station, it follows the story of former psychic detective Frank Gobi and his son Trevor as they solve the mystery of a VR crash that leaves millions of people in a trancelike state.................................................................. ink drawing on 9″×11″ sketchbook paper.............................................. The Synaptic Samurai…for when your message must really get there (faster than) overnight!.............................................. Synapse Synapses are essential to neuronal function: neurons are cells that are specialized to pass signals to individual target cells, and synapses are the means by which they do so. In my dream, instead of bicycle couriers there were Synaptic Samurais. They were in charge of delivering messages from the unconscious to the conscious. Sometimes they fought great (and messy) battles in the brains of their masters. They did not always succeed in delivering their messages uncorrupted by other signals................................................. There was no Synaptic Samurai in the Rim novel…but I wish there had been!
